As we talked about at our last meeting, every school is in a different place as far as bookrooms. And, the progress that is made this year will be at different rates. When you have time, please give the group an update on what you have been up to, any ordering you've started, any funny stories, any Ah-Ha's, or list anything you want feedback about.

Tremont- We are in the process of transforming part of our aide/work room so that we can
add shelving to create a 3-5 book room space next to the K-2 existing space. We've
hit some bumps in the road with moving heavy furniture, working with maintenance, and
trying to have things running smoothly for the first week of school. I've order shelves
and as soon as they arrive and are put together, I'll begin moving books over from the
storage closet. During the summer I began an inventory list on Excel and have
fiction books organized by level (F & P and DRA), non fiction organized by level and content
area, and biographies listed by level. Still have a long way to go!! A. Hegemier

Barrington-(10-25-10)Our primary bookroom has moved twice in the past year! The current space is temporary so we're gearing up to make another move to the final home for both the primary and intermediate bookrooms. For the past 10 weeks, high school students have been re-labeling and re-bagging the books to get ready for the new computer cataloging system. They also have begun to pick-up books from classrooms and return them to the proper bin in the bookroom.
Next, we need to buy storage bins and more titles to make the bookroom stream-lined and updated. If anyone has suggestions regarding the bins/bookboxes, please let us know!
